I'd like to order...A poem please

There is no better way to spend an afternoon than sitting in the sun and listening to Jarvis Cooker's Sunday Service.  Alongside the dulcet tunes, his show on October 2nd geared towards a date worth penciling in the diary – National Poetry Day.

This year is set to be a good’ un with hopes to engage all minds and ages. For the past three years The Poetry Society has collaborated with the Southbank Centre to provide totally FREE event.  You don’t need to be the next leading poet or best selling writer to attend.

Also making a special appearance on the day is The Poetry Takeaway. A fully operational Burger Van, ahem, I mean Poetry Van that provides made to order literary servings of poetry. You can expect to wait 10 minutes and, once written your poetry chef then recites the poem, then presents you with a hard copy. The concept is really simple but the idea huge. It's a really fun way of engaging people- you get your own, personal, never published before poem to keep!

There is a greater importance on poetry now more than ever; we as a nation have distanced ourselves from wanting to undertand poetry. Be it bad experiences or anxieties towards studying, or feeling we have a lack of confidence knowing what it’s all about. It can be for everybody, given the chance.

I would recommend making your way to Southbank this Thursday, the links below have further information.

Glastonbury Registration for 2013

Even though Glastonbury Festival may be a long way off, the registration process for 2013 tickets has already started. It is so worth sorting this out early as to not endure the hectic, scramble for tickets closer to the time.

I will hopefully be able to paint for my ticket at Theatre and Circus but if not I will be certainly purchasing myself a full weekender. Good luck to all and roll on the next festival!
